Is your child interested in taking voice
or instrumental lessons?
If your child is interested in taking some type of formal music lessons, you have several options.
First check with your local park district to see if they offer anything. I know that the Round Lake park district offers a variety of lessons for school age children as do several other park districts in the area.
You can also check with one of the local music stores in the area to see if they have what you are looking for. (To get a list of a few music stores, you can view the tab here on my website labeled "Music stores" Many music stores offer lessons at there. However, you will also find a handful of places that do not offer lessons at their facility. If that is the case, give one of the local stores a call and be sure to ask them if they can give you a list of teachers that may be near you that offer the type of lessons that you are looking for. There are a lot of people who offer music lessons in their homes and there are others who travel from house to house who will do lessons in the home of the student.
The average 30-45 minute lesson can cost anywhere from $11-$40. Depending on the experience or conveniences the teacher may have to offer, you may end up paying more/less for that.
You will most likely be asked to put out an initial cost for one or two books that he/she might need
to get started but those books usually take several months to a year to make it through
so that is a minimal cost of the process.
If you have any questions about lessons/etc. please email or call and I will happy to help!
Best of luck!
