My name is Katie Schiller and I am the music teacher for grades K-4 as well as the choir director here at Big Hollow. I am currently in my sixteenth year of teaching music at the elementary/middle school level (my tenth year at Big Hollow). I graduated from Illinois State University in 2002 with a Bachelor degree in Music Education (choral/general/vocal music emphasis). I currently teach private piano lessons and have previously taught voice as well.
Making music has been my passion for as long as I can remember. My inspiration and drive for teaching music comes from one of my former music teachers. To watch the children's faces light up when they sing or play an instrument brings me great joy; it is truly a job that I love.
Please feel free to contact me at any time!
Thank you for taking time out to check out my website! Have a great school year!
My answer is.... Not because I expect my students to major in music, Not because I expect them to sing or play music all their lives, But, so they will be human, So they will recognize beauty, So they will be sensitive, So they will be closer to an infinite beyond this world. So they will have something to cling to, So they will have more love, compassion, tenderness and good. In short, more life...
